TRAILER TRASH: Isle of Dogs
Get hyped. Three years after releasing THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL to great acclaim, filmmaker Wes Anderson is back with a delightful trailer for his new stop-motion animated movie, ISLE OF DOGS.
It follows a group of rag-tag canines marooned in a garbage dump after an outbreak of “dog flu.” The canines band together to help a young pilot track down his long-lost pup.
It wouldn’t be a Wes Anderson movie without a slew of celebs including Anderson-favorites Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Tilda Swinton and Edward Norton. Bryan Cranston, Liev Schreiber and Ken Watanabe are among the newcomers.
It’s been nearly a decade since Anderson wowed me. Despite praise for BUDAPEST and MOONRISE KINGDOM, both bordered on self-parody for me. It will be interesting if Anderson’s return to stop-motion equals another home run.
ISLE OF DOGS comes out March 23.
